I Heard You Love Dabbing

Extracts_Assorted_IMG_Main

Jake Paul knows the difference between dabbing and dabbing. For a bro who was caught smoking weed, he knew the meaning behind the movement. But then again, who doesn’t smoke weed when it’s practically legal in all of California?

I smoke weed. I smoke a lot of weed. A lot of YouTubers smoke weed too. My boss smokes weed & my co-workers smoke weed. Even my cat takes CBD after her nip when she’s feeling a little tense around the joints.

One thing that separates me from the rest of the people in the modern world, though, is my inability to figure out how concentrates work. Sure, I know how to identify a 710 threaded cartridge from a Pax Era or Grenco Science pod. I know how to use a CBD tincture or when to sprinkle kief on my freshly rolled blunt. I know what extracts are, but I still haven’t mastered the art of smoking concentrates.

WHAT ARE CONCENTRATES?

Concentrates are products made from the cannabis plant that have been processed to keep only the most desirable plant compounds (primarily the cannabinoids and terpenes), while removing excess plant material and other impurities. Cannabis concentrate products can also be consumed on their own.

Remember: Concentrates ARE NOT Extracts.

KINDS OF CONCENTRATES & HOW TO CONSUME THEM

BUBBLE HASH

Bubble Hash is a cannabis concentrate whose extraction method is by using ice and ice water. The texture is crumbly, the colors range from amber to a darker, grayer brown.

RESIN, LIVE RESIN, & BUDDER

Resin is a cannabis byproduct that happens after applying heat to cannabis flower. This is the brown to dark brown residue that is left on a bong, bowl, or your fingers after smoking.

Live Resin however is material extracted from uncured cannabis plants. It has a livelier color – pale yellow to a sunflower yellow color.

Budder has an oilier consistency and resembles the color of butter. It’s fragrant, sticky, and resembles marshmallow spread in consistency.

CRUMBLE

Crumble is extracted by using solvent. Its consistency is more solid than viscous and is not limited to dabbing. It can be used for extra flavor when smoking flower.

SAUCE, SUGAR, & CRYSTALLINE

Sugars have a wet sand or wet sugar consistency. They’re inconsistent in terms of profile and range from a light amber to a full on bright pale yellow in color.

Sauce has a molasses to almost thick maple syrup consistency. These are best taken due to flavor — if you love flavor.

Crystalline looks like rock salt. Or broken down sugar crystal in a pile of their own nectar. Their colors are usually lighter than usual and the effect, when smoked are potent.

I figured the main reason why people love concentrates so much is because of how the flavor profiles shine. In flower, not a lot terps can be experienced due to certain factors like smoking it through a blunt, a dirty bowl, a stinky bong, and thick papers.

In my experience, once in a while, I like the idea of dabbing. I love flavor and this is where the true flavors of cannabis is at.
