We’ve all been there before — looking through government websites and being confused about what to do and not to do in terms of our own individual intentions. Lately, I was asked to proof and research on the Cannabis Compliance Packaging in California. I found two cheat sheets one for Cannabis Products that involved flower and the other for Cannabis Infused products like Extracts and Edibles.
Sometimes government checklists seem incomplete and much reading is required. It’s always good to check on the FAQs first, take notes, before plunging into the details. If the question is specific and you’re willing to wait 5 – 7 business days for a reply, you can go ahead and e-mail the California Bureau of Cannabis Control.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
Font Size is 6 pt. or bigger for Government Warnings and the CA Universal Symbol should be included and is at least .5 x .5 in size — only in black & white.
Words such as CANDY or imitating packaging for candy products meant to be showed for children are not allowed.
FOR CANNABIS FLOWER
Can be placed in clear glass container as well as light dep packaging. But packaging must contain the weight of flower as well as the CA Universal Symbol in .5 x .5 inches and black and white. All of the cannabis flower packaging must adhee to the guidelines posted on the list.

FOR MARIJUANA INFUSED PRODUCT:
The CA Universal Symbol — .5 x .5 inches & black and white — should be visible and placed on the packaging. Edibles have to be in opaque packaging and properly sealed. Any resemblance to candy packaging is not allowed.
All of this must be considered as well as well as adhering to what’s on the list for cannabis infused products.

Important note: “CANNABIS-INFUSED” must be in big bold letters and incorporated in the design as well as the net weight and amount of THC : CBD in milligrams.
